MLK Memorial

This site-specific environmental sculpture resembling a small amphitheater was commissioned as a memorial to civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The sculpture includes eight triangular columns of varying heights; each displays an excerpt from King's writings. In addition to city dollars, 500 individuals, including school children, contributed to fund the memorial. In 2006, after repairs to correct drainage problems at the site, the Memorial was rededicated on the anniversary of King's "I Have a Dream" speech.
