Cyclofemme Ride - We Ride Together!

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Join GetAbout Columbia in a trilogy celebration of Bike, Walk and Wheel Week, Mother's Day and the nationwide observance of CycloFemme, a socially-driven grass-roots celebration of women on bikes.

GetAbout Columbia, in partnership with Columbia Parks and Recreation, invites women of all ages and riding abilities to attend the CycloFemme celebration at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 12 at the Scott Blvd Trailhead (3662 Scott Blvd).

Cyclists should expect a slow paced (10-12 mph) ride of approximately 19 miles. A shorter route of 15 miles will also be offered.  The ride will highlight the connectivity of Columbia's Trail System including the MKT Trail, MU Recreation Trail, Greenbriar Connector, Hinkson Creek Trail (including a sneak peak at the Old Hwy 63 pedway improvements) and the County House Branch Trail. Cyclists should plan to ride on a mix of paved and hard-packed gravel trails. Helmets are required.  Return time will be approximately 4:45 p.m.

The first 100 participants to register will receive a bike tail light.  All participants can register to win bicycles and bike shop gift certificates as part of Bike, Walk and Wheel Week.

Register by calling Parks and Recreation at 874-7460; there is no cost to participate. A detailed schedule of all Bike, Walk, and Wheel Week events is located online at www.gocolumbiamo.com/parksandrec/.

Funding for GetAbout Columbia is provided by the Federal Highway Administration's Non-Motorized Transportation Program.
