The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department is planning two additional public forums for citizens to offer feedback on the draft of the 2013 Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan.
The first will take place during the GetAbout Columbia open house from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 13 at the Gentry Building (#1 South 7th Street). Copies of the plan will be available for viewing as well as staff to answer any questions. Refreshments will be served to the public.
The second opportunity will be during the Family Fun Fest from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 15 at Flat Branch Park. Staff will again be available to take comment and answer questions.
The Master Plan will serve as a guide for the development of parks, trails and facilities over the next 10 years. During the process of drafting the 2013 Master Plan, suggestions for revisions and recommended capital improvement projects were solicited from park users and public input meetings. Input was also solicited via a 2010 Parks and Recreation Needs Assessment Survey as well as a 2011 Park User Survey.
In addition to the public input meetings and events, citizens may also view the plan and offer input online at www.GoColumbiaMo.com/ParksandRec/2013_Master_Plan.
It is expected that the 2013 P&R Master Plan will be presented to the City Council for their consideration and approval this summer.
