Columbia Parks and Recreation is hosting a drop-in public meeting to gather input for the Gans Creek Recreation Area in southeast Columbia. The first phase of development is slated to begin later this year.
Citizens are invited to drop in between 5-7 p.m. on August 21 at the ARC (1701 W. Ash) to view the proposed plans. Parks and Recreation staff will be available to answer questions.
Gans Creek Recreation Area will combine with Philips Park to make up a southeast regional park. A master plan for the park was approved by City Council in 2010 and was to be implemented in phases as funding became available.
Proposed in Phase I of Gans are athletic fields, trail, dog park, and support facilities such as roads, stormwater control, parking lots and restrooms. Funding for the project will come from the Park Sales Tax, approved by voters in 2010.
For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 874-7460.
