Two Columbia youth won first place on December 15 in the statewide NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition prior to the Rams-Saints game at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.
Eryn Puett won first place in the girls 10-11 age group with a total score of 288'6". Andrew Whelihan won first place in the boys 12-13 age group, with a total score of 342'8".
The top four performances nationally in each age group will advance to the national competition. This includes Puett, who placed first in her age group nationally. Whelihan placed sixth nationally, narrowly missing the cut by less than 5 feet.
Puett is a former Punt, Pass and Kick national champion. She will compete at an NFL AFC playoff game in January; the date and location will be determined.
The Punt, Pass and Kick competition is a free program organized locally by Columbia Parks and Recreation.
