GetAbout Columbia, in partnership with Columbia Parks and Recreation, is offering a free, introductory bicycle commuting workshop. The workshop will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 17 at the ARC (1701 W. Ash).
The one hour workshop will provide tips on adding non-motorized transportation to daily travel routines. Discussion will include: bicycle selection, apparel, equipment options, route planning and responsible riding techniques. Experienced commuters are encouraged to come and share their tips with fellow riders and hopefully walk away with new knowledge as well.
All attendees will receive certificates for a 60-minute, customized "bike buddy" clinic offering personalized, door-to-door commuting consultation.
For more information, contact the GetAbout Columbia/Parks and Recreation Department at 874-7460.
Funding for GetAbout Columbia is provided by the Federal Highway Administration's Non-Motorized Transportation Pilot Program.
