2014 Stephens Lake Park Amphitheater Concert Kicks Off May 1

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

Join Columbia Parks and Recreation this summer for outdoor concerts at the Stephens Lake Park Amphitheater (100 Old 63 N). Every month will feature a new performance and admission is free. Concert-goers are advised to bring a blanket or lawn chair.

May 1: Swampweed Cajun Band, 7 pm, Free
Sponsored by KPLA and the Missouri Arts Council
Swampweed offers traditional "foot-stompin', accordion squeezin', French howlin' music" from the swamps. Only the finest in Dancehall tunes honoring the Balfa brother, Dennis McGee, Canray Fontenot, Amede Ardoin, Cheese Reed and many others. Swampweed features Ehren Oncken on Cajun button accordion, Jimmy Joe Culbertson on drums, triangle, and wash-tar, Matt Bossaller on upright, slap bass, Dierik Leonhard on Cajun fiddle and Jane Accurso on guitar and Cajun French vocals.
