Columbia's Blue Thunder Track Club sent 42 athletes to compete in the AAU Junior Olympic Games at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa over the weekend. They competed in various events against 10,000 athletes from across the country.
Blue Thunder athletes won four national championships and earned 16 All-American crowns. Those are earned by placing in the top 8 in their respective events. Blue Thunder's national All-American performances are:
Joshua Larkins, 8 year olds, Shot Put, 26'10.5", National Champion
Kaleb Schweikert, 9 year olds, 1500m Race Walk, 11:55.18, 7th place
Me'Khi Williams, 10 year olds, Shot Put, 27'5.5", 8th place
Mya White, 11 year olds, 1500m Race Walk, 10:25.4, 8th place
Kevin Schweikert, 11 year olds, 1500m Race Walk, 9:47.85, 8th place
Eryn Puett, 12 year olds, High Jump, 5'4" National Champion; Shot Put 38'1.25" National Champion; Pentathlon, 3004 points, Silver Medalist
Peyton Davis, 13 year olds, High Jump, 5'8" National Champion; Pentathlon, 2671 points, Bronze Medalist; Javelin, 119'4" 4th place
Zaida Williams, 13 year olds, Shot Put, 35'1.5", 8th place

Hannah Schweikert, 17-18 year olds, 3000m Race Walk, 19:10.85, 6th place
Other notable performances include Hannah Wise finishing 9th in the 10 year old girls 1500m Race Walk with a time of 9:50.88. Mojuba Shonekan finished 9th in the 13 year old boys 800m with a time of 2:13.16. He missed making All-American by one second. Nathaniel Peat finished 9th in the 14 year old boys 400m Dash. His time was 52.36. He was a tenth of a second from making All-American.
