GetAbout Columbia, in partnership with Columbia Parks and Recreation, will kick off their free spring/summer program with the popular "Secret Access" MKT Trail Ride at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4. The guided ride will start at the playground area of Flat Branch Park, 400 Locust St.
This monthly activity is designed to introduce beginner level cyclists to Columbia's backyard gem: the MKT Trail. Ride leaders will guide cyclists on a leisurely paced, 11-mile, roundtrip ride highlighting trail connections to popular retail and residential areas, as well as access areas to the Hinkson Creek and County House Branch Trails.
Additional education and encouragement programs include bicycle maintenance workshops, on-road cycling skills courses, trail rides and special events. A full schedule of activities is available in Leisure Times, available at all Parks and Recreation facilities or online at www.gocolumbiamo.com.
Call GetAbout Columbia at 874-7460 for additional information or to register. Drop-in participants are welcome at most GetAbout Columbia activities. Call the Parks and Recreation hotline at 874-7663 for weather related cancellation information.
Funding for GetAbout Columbia is provided by the Federal Highway Administration's Non-Motorized Transportation Program.
