Columbia Parks and Recreation is planning the 5th Annual Fishing Derby at A. Perry Philips Park on Saturday, May 30. Registration for the free fishing derby will be held from 9 to 9:30 a.m.; the derby itself will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The fishing derby is co-sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and is free for all ages. Categories will be divided by age: 10 and under and 11 and up. Prizes will be awarded in both age categories for first fish caught, longest and shortest fish.
Participants between the ages of 16 and 64 must present a valid Missouri fishing license. For more information, call Parks and Recreation at 874-7460.
