Columbia's Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to come participate in the many family friendly activities that Douglass Park is hosting this summer! From youth sports to special events to swimming at Douglass Family Aquatic Center, there is something for everyone.
New at Douglass Park this spring and summer, DJ USA Curtis "Boogie Man" Soul will be playing music in the park on Saturday afternoons. Enjoy R&B and Motown tunes in the park beginning April 21 at 2 p.m.
Spring/Summer Activities Offered:
Douglass Family Aquatic Center Features shaded shelter, double loop water slide and concession area. Pool will open May 30th at 1:00pm. Open 1-7 pm Mon - Sat, 1-6 Sundays. Cost: 1 and under, FREE, ages 2+ single admission, $1
Douglass Park Spraygrounds: UNGUARDED plaza with interactive water fountains, geysers and jets shooting from the ground. The spraygrounds will open May 1. FREE
Douglass Bulldogs Baseball League: League starts June 4. Boys AND girls can participate! Players will receive a league hat and t-shirt. Registration forms available at the Parks and Recreation office, the Armory Sports Center, the ARC and at www.gocolumbiamo.com. Registration deadline is Tuesday, May 1. Volunteer coaches and umpires needed. Cost: $24
Moonlight Hoops: This evening outdoor league will start June 6. Team t-shirts covered by the cost. Drop by the Armory or ARC to register. Registration deadline is Friday, May 4. Youth league volunteer coaches needed as well as team sponsorships.
Lunch in the Park: A healthy lunch is served to kids at the Douglass Park Shelter. Runs June 11-August 10. Lunch is not served on July 4. Time: 11:30-1pm FREE
Annual Juneteenth Days: On Saturday and Sunday, June 16-17, 3-8 pm, come and celebrate African-American Heritage with bands, choirs, speakers, games and food. Bring your lawn chair and have some fun! Cost: FREE
