Plans are being finalized for Columbia's 60th Annual Fire in the Sky event on July 4! Fire in the Sky will be held in the District this year, with festivities starting at 6:30 p.m.
Flat Branch Park and Mizzou's Peace Park will be the main locations for entertainment. The Ironweed Bluegrass Band and Norm Ruebling Band will perform at the Peace Park stage and bands Lot 56 and Table for 5 will perform at the Flat Branch Park stage. Flat Branch will also be the site of children's activities, including obstacle courses, pop-a-shot, games and 4th of July crafts.
After 9 pm, a fireworks display will be shot from the top of the Sixth and Cherry parking garage, choreographed to music and simulcast on KBXR 102.3.
Fire in the Sky is free and concessions will be available. Citizens are reminded not to bring fireworks to the event. Free parking is available downtown and on the University campus.
Fire in the Sky is presented by Columbia Insurance Group and KOMU 8, and sponsored by KBXR 102.3, KFRU 1400, Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Cosmopolitan Luncheon Club.
