The City of Columbia is committed to providing public health services that prevent epidemics and the spread of disease, protect against environmental hazards, promote healthy behaviors, prevent injuries and illness, assure the quality and accessibility of health services, monitor the health of the population, provide social services and promote and protect civil rights.
The purpose of the Columbia-Boone County Basic Needs Coalition is to assist the citizens of Columbia and Boone County, Missouri in meeting their basic needs for food, clothing, shelter, and transportation.
To accomplish this, the Coalition works to bring together providers of basic needs to exchange information; determine any unmet needs; find solutions to these needs by mobilizing community resources; and evaluate progress toward meeting the Coalition's goals.
General Coalition Meetings: typically meet the 4th Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. at the Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services(1005 W. Worley St.)
A designated representative of the Coalition attends the Governor's Committee to End Homelessness meetings: typically meet the first Monday of each month at 10 a.m. in the USDA Rural Development Office (601 Business Loop 70 West, Suite 235)
A designated representative of the Coalition attends the Quarterly Balance of State Central Missouri Regional Housing Continuum Meetings
