The City of Columbia is committed to providing public health services that prevent epidemics and the spread of disease, protect against environmental hazards, promote healthy behaviors, prevent injuries and illness, assure the quality and accessibility of health services, monitor the health of the population, provide social services and promote and protect civil rights.

Student Writings Program

Each year, students in grades 4 - 12 are encouraged to participate in the Columbia Values Diversity Celebration by submitting original writings for publication.

Students in grades 4-12 were again invited to submit their original essays and poetry for possible publication in the 2011 Columbia Values Diversity Celebration Student Writings Booklet. This booklet will be distributed to over 1,100 people at the annual community celebration on January 13, 2011 and published on the celebration web site.
