Emergency Shelter Grant Program

The State of Missouri- Department of Social Services annually makes available funding under the Emergency Shelter Grant Program (ESGP) as authorized by Subtitle B of Title IV of the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act. Applications are only accepted from city and county governments. Local governments, in turn, may use the funds to contract with local qualified non-profit organizations to meet the service need of the community related to the homeless.

Each year the City of Columbia applies for funding from the State of Missouri Emergency Shelter Grant Program. In turn, the City sub-contracts with local service providers to provide needed and allowable services. Historically the amount of funding received and sub-contracted locally has been $75,000.

At its April 20, 2010 meeting, the Boone County Community Services Advisory Commission allocated 2010 ESGP funding as outlined in the following chart:

All allocations and subsequent contracts are contingent upon the State awarding the ESGP monies to the City.
