Chapter 14 MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC*
Section 14-140 Loads required to be covered or secured.
(a)
No person shall operate on any street or highway any motor vehicle, trailer
or semi-trailer
that is carrying goods or materials which may reasonably be expected to become dislodged and
fall from the vehicle, trailer or semi-trailer as a result of wind pressure or air pressure or by the
movement of the vehicle, trailer or semi-trailer, unless the motor vehicle, trailer or semi-trailer
has a protective cover or the load is sufficiently secured so that no portion of such goods or
material can become dislodged and fall from the vehicle, trailer or semi-trailer while being
transported.
(b) No person shall operate on any street or highway any truck having a capacity
in excess of
one ton net weight that is carrying rock unless the truck has a protective cover over the rock such
that none of the rock can fall from the truck while being transported.
