Prior to the adoption of Ord. 16077 on 07/06/1999, Section 14-548 read as follows.

~~If any motor vehicle is abandoned on the street or left standing thereon~~ Any police officer or parking enforcement officer may have removed to a suitable place any vehicle parked or left standing on a street, highway or public property for a longer ~~period of time~~ than twenty-four (24) hours, or if any vehicle is parked contrary to the provisions of this chapter~~, the chief of police may have such vehicle removed to a suitable place or to a public garage~~. Unclaimed vehicles shall be disposed of in accordance with state law ~~the provisions of section 14-306(f)~~.
