Chapter 15 MUNICIPAL COURT*
Section 15-28 Working prisoner.
(a) Any person who has been convicted in the municipal court
and sentenced by the municipal
judge for violation of any ordinance of the city, whether the punishment be by fine or
imprisonment or by both, may be put to work to perform labor on the public streets, highways,
alleys, or other public works or buildings of the city. It shall be deemed a part of the judgment
and sentence of the court that such prisoner may be worked as herein provided. The chief of
police shall have power and be authorized to have or cause all such prisoners to work out the full
number of days for which they have been sentenced.
(b) If the punishment is by fine and the fine be not paid,
then for every ten dollars ($10.00) of
such judgment the prisoner shall work one day.
