Prior to the adoption of Ord. 19072 on 06/05/2006, Section 16-202.2 read as follows.


    (a)     A person commits the crime of abuse of a police dog or police horse  if the person knowingly kills, assaults, beats, strikes, kicks, mutilates, injures, disables, arouses, angers or excites any police dog or police horse. :

    (1)    While it is caged, kenneled, transported, exhibited or exercised; or

    (2)    While it is discharging or attempting to discharge a lawful command of the police officer in charge of the dog.

    (b)     Abuse of a police dog or police horse  is a class A misdemeanor.
