Chapter 28 VEHICLES FOR HIRE*
Section 28-112 Application.
(a) Every person desiring to drive a vehicle for hire within
the Columbia city limits shall make
written application to the business license administrator for a driver's certificate. The application
shall be verified under oath and shall be on a form supplied by the business license administrator,
which contains the following:
(1) Name, age, residence address of
applicant for the past five (5) years.
(2) Color, height, eye and hair color,
sex of applicant.
(3) Nationality, place of birth, length
of time applicant has resided in the city.
(4) Statement whether applicant can
read, write and speak the English language.
(5) Statement whether applicant is
addicted to use of drugs or intoxicating liquors.
(6) Statement whether applicant was
previously licensed as a chauffeur, where and when;
whether the license has been revoked and, if so, for what cause.
(7) Statement whether applicant has
ever been convicted of a violation of a federal or state
law or of any city ordinance relating to operating a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated,
leaving the scene of an accident or failure to report an accident or any violation of this article.
(b) Each applicant shall file with his application four (4)
copies of a photograph of himself
taken within three (3) months of the date of the application. One photograph shall be firmly
affixed to the application and one shall be firmly affixed to the certificate if granted. The size of
the photograph shall be determined by the director.
(c) An applicant who has been denied a driver's certificate
shall not reapply for a driver's
certificate for a period of one year following the denial.
