The University of Missouri Extension Council makes recommendations to the University with regard to its Extension Program and administers Boone County's share of the cost of extension services in the area. The City Council appoints one member to this Council and that member must be a resident of the City of Columbia. The length of terms is two years, with opening occurring in March.
The legislative authority of the University of Missouri Extension Council is contained in Chapter 262 of the Revised Statutes of the State of Missouri.
