Section 100-024 Res. 14-99; Public Hearing - Street Improvements to Grant Lane

A RESOLUTION

declaring the necessity for construction of improvements to Grant Lane from Scott Boulevard east and northward to the south end of existing improved pavement; stating the nature of and the estimate of the cost thereof; providing that payment for the improvement shall be made from the capital improvement sales tax funds and special tax bills levied and assessed against the property specially benefited and abutting the improvement; and setting a public hearing.

The City Council deems the construction of portland cement concrete pavement with integral curbs or in the alternative asphaltic concrete pavement with portland cement concrete curbs and gutters together with concrete sidewalks, drive approaches, intersection work, storm water piping, catch basins, inlets and other improvements, landscaping and other work on Grant Lane from Scott Boulevard east and northward to the south end of the existing improved pavement, all in accordance with City of Columbia Street and Storm Water Specifications and Standards, necessary to the welfare and improvement of the City.

The estimated cost of this improvement is $755,000.

Payment for this improvement shall be made by special tax bills evidencing special assessments levied and assessed against the property specially benefited and abutting the improvement in the manner specified by the laws of the State of Missouri and the Charter and Ordinances of the City of Columbia, in an amount not to exceed $12.00 per abutting front foot; and the balance from the capital improvement sales tax funds and such other funds as may be lawfully appropriated.
