Section 101-064 Res. 17-00; Public Hearing RE: Construction of an 8-inch Water Main Running Along Breezewood Drive Located in and Serving Breezewood Estates, Plat; Authorizing Payment of Differential Costs

A RESOLUTION
declaring the necessity for the construction of an 8inch water main running along Breezewood
Drive located in and serving Breezewood Estates, Plat 1; stating the nature of the improvement;
estimating the extra cost for constructing an 8-inch rather than a 6-inch water main; providing
that the improvement shall be made by Columbia Landholding Co., Inc.; providing that payment
for the extra cost of constructing a larger water main shall be from water utility funds; and setting
a public hearing.
WHEREAS, Columbia Landholding Co., Inc. desires to install a
6-inch water main to serve
property abutting the proposed water main extension; and
WHEREAS, the City for reasons of health, safety, public welfare,
and future adequate service
to areas other than Breezewood Estates, Plat 1, requires that an 8inch water main be installed;
and
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for such installation have
been prepared by the Director
of the Water and Light Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Council deems the construction of about
1000 feet of 8inch water main
pipes and accessory valves and fittings running along Breezewood Drive located in and serving
Breezewood Estates, Plat 1, necessary to assure adequate future water supply for the health,
safety and welfare of the citizens of the City.
SECTION 2. The nature and scope of the improvement shall
consist of furnishing all labor,
materials, transportation, insurance and all other items necessary for the complete construction of
the water main described in Section 1.
SECTION 3. The estimated differential cost (the cost of
constructing an 8-inch water main
which exceeds the cost of constructing a 6-inch water main) of this improvement is $ 4.27 per
linear foot.
SECTION 4. This improvement shall be made by Columbia
Landholding Co., Inc.
SECTION 5. Payment of differential costs, not to exceed
the estimated amounts stated in
Section 3, shall be made to Columbia Landholding Co., Inc. from the Capital/Transmission and
Distribution Mains Account upon satisfactory completion of the work and acceptance of the
Engineer's Report by the City Council.
SECTION 6. This resolution shall be published in a daily
newspaper of general circulation in
the City of Columbia for seven (7) consecutive insertions, and a public hearing in respect to this
improvement will be held in the Council Chamber of the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E.
Broadway, Columbia, Missouri, at 7:00 p.m., on February 21, 2000.
