Series 101 2000 ORDINANCES/RESOLUTIONS
Section 101-214 Res. 74-00; Setting a Public Hearing RE: Construction of Water Mains serving Smithton Ridge, Plats 2 and 3
Council Bill No.
declaring the necessity for the construction of water mains located in and serving Smithton
Ridge, Plats 2 and 3; stating the nature of the improvement; estimating the extra cost for
constructing 8-inch and 16-inch water mains rather than 6-inch water mains; providing that the
improvement shall be made by Greenwing, L.L.C.; and setting a public hearing.
WHEREAS, Greenwing, L.L.C. desires to install 6-inch water mains
to serve property
abutting the proposed water main extension; and
WHEREAS, the City for reasons of health, safety, public welfare,
and future adequate service
to areas other than Smithton Ridge, Plats 2 and 3, requires that an 8inch and 16-inch water main
be installed; and
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for such installation have
been prepared by the Director
of the Water and Light Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Council deems the construction of about
2,575 feet of 8inch and 1,400 feet
of 16-inch water main pipes and accessory valves and fittings located in and serving Smithton
Ridge, Plats 2 and 3, necessary to assure adequate future water supply for the health, safety and
welfare of the citizens of the City.
SECTION 2. The nature and scope of the improvement shall
consist of furnishing all labor,
materials, transportation, insurance and all other items necessary for the complete construction of
the water main described in Section 1.
SECTION 3. The estimated differential cost for 8-inch
water mains (the cost of constructing
an 8-inch water main which exceeds the cost for constructing a 6-inch water main) for this
improvement is $ 4.38 per linear foot. The estimated differential cost for 16-inch water mains
(the cost of constructing a 16-inch water main which exceeds the cost of constructing a 6-inch
water main) for this improvement is $ 17.54 per linear foot.
SECTION 4. This improvement shall be made by Greenwing,

newspaper of general circulation in
the City of Columbia for seven (7) consecutive insertions, and a public hearing in respect to this
improvement will be held in the Council Chamber of the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E.
Broadway, Columbia, Missouri, at 7:00 p.m., on May 15, 2000.
