Section 101-234 Ord. 16436; Construction of a Water Main along Fourth Avenue, from Garth Avenue to Providence Road

declaring it is in the public interest to proceed with construction of a water main along Fourth
Avenue from Garth Avenue to Providence Road; approving the plans and specifications;
determining that the work shall be done in part by City employees and in part using construction
crews provided under the terms of a general services agreement; providing for payment for the
improvement; and fixing the time when this ordinance shall become effective.
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a resolution declaring the necessity for
of a 6-inch water main along Fourth Avenue from Garth Avenue to Providence Road and setting
a public hearing on this project; and
WHEREAS, the resolution has been published in a daily newspaper of general circulation
the City of Columbia; and
WHEREAS, the public hearing on the project has been held.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Council finds and determines that construction of a 6-inch
water main along
Fourth Avenue from Garth Avenue to Providence Road is necessary for the welfare and
improvement of the City and that it is in the public interest that such improvement be made.
SECTION 2. The plans and specifications for this improvement, as prepared
by the Director
of the Water and Light Department and filed in the office of the City Clerk, are hereby approved,
adopted and made a part of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. The above described work shall not be bid but shall be constructed
in part by city
employees and in part using construction crews provided under the terms of a general services

SECTION 4. Payment for this improvement shall be made from the Water and
using funds appropriated in Capital Improvement Project No. WT0010, and such other funds as
may be lawfully appropriated.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
PASSED this 15th day of May, 2000.
