Section 101-384 Res. 146-00; Setting a Public Hearing RE: Construction of an 8-inch Water Main Serving Heritage Estates, Plat 1
Council Bill No.
declaring the necessity for the construction of an 8-inch water main located in and
Heritage Estates, Plat 1; stating the nature of the improvement; estimating the extra cost for
constructing an 8-inch water main rather than a 6-inch water main; providing that the
improvement shall be made by Double R Squared, Inc.; and setting a public hearing.
WHEREAS, Double R Squared, Inc. desires to install a 6-inch
water main to serve property
abutting the proposed water main extension; and
WHEREAS, the City for reasons of health, safety, public welfare,
and future adequate service
to areas other than Heritage Estates, Plat 1, requires that an 8inch water main be installed; and
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for such installation have
been prepared by the Director
of the Water and Light Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Council deems the construction of about
1,650 feet of 8inch water main
pipes and accessory valves and fittings located in and serving Heritage Estates, Plat 1, necessary
to assure adequate future water supply for the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the
SECTION 2. The nature and scope of the improvement shall
consist of furnishing all labor,
materials, transportation, insurance and all other items necessary for the complete construction of
the water main described in Section 1.
SECTION 3. The estimated differential cost for an 8-inch
water main (the cost of constructing
an 8-inch water main which exceeds the cost for constructing a 6-inch water main) for this
improvement is $ 4.98 per linear foot.
SECTION 4. This improvement shall be made by Double R
SECTION 5. This resolution shall be published in a daily
newspaper of general circulation in
the City of Columbia for seven (7) consecutive insertions, and a public hearing in respect to this
improvement will be held in the Council Chamber of the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E.
Broadway, Columbia, Missouri, at 7:00 p.m., on August 21, 2000.
