Section 101-451 Ord. 16569; Construction of a Water Main along Parklawn Court, Texas Avenue, Sondra Avenue, and Doris Drive

declaring it is in the public interest to proceed with construction of a water main
Court, Texas Avenue, Sondra Avenue and Doris Drive; approving the plans and specifications;
determining that a portion of the work shall be done by City employees and a part by
construction crews provided under the terms of a general services agreement; providing for
payment for the improvement; and fixing the time when this ordinance shall become effective.
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a resolution declaring
the necessity for construction
of a 6-inch water main along Parklawn Court from Texas Avenue to the cul-de-sac, and along
Texas Avenue, Sondra Avenue and Doris Drive at Creasy Springs Road; and setting a public
hearing on this project; and
WHEREAS, the resolution has been published in a daily newspaper
of general circulation in
the City of Columbia; and
WHEREAS, the public hearing on the project has been held.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Council finds and determines that the replacement
of an existing 2.25-inch
cast iron water main with a 6-inch water main along Parklawn Court from Texas Avenue to the
cul-de-sac, and along Texas Avenue, Sondra Avenue and Doris Drive at Creasy Springs Road is
necessary for the welfare and improvement of the City and that it is in the public interest that
such improvement be made.
SECTION 2. The plans and specifications for this improvement,
as prepared by the Director
of the Water and Light Department and filed in the office of the City Clerk, are hereby approved,
adopted and made a part of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. As deemed advisable by the city manager pursuant
to Section 70 of the City
Charter, city employees shall be used for construction of a portion of the work. A portion of
work shall be done by construction crews provided under the terms of a general services
SECTION 4. Payment for this improvement shall be made
from the Capital/Transmission and
Distribution Mains Account, and such other funds as may be lawfully appropriated.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage.
