Section 101-469 Res. 174-00; Setting a Public Hearing RE: Construction of a 12-inch Water Main serving Spring Creek, Plat 1

Council Bill No.         R 174-00

declaring the necessity for the construction of a 12-inch water main serving Spring Creek, Plat 1; stating the nature of the improvement; estimating the extra cost for constructing a 12-inch water main rather than an 8-inch water main; providing that the improvement shall be made by Wynfield Development Corporation; and setting a public hearing.

WHEREAS, Wynfield Development Corporation desires to install an 8-inch water main to serve Spring Creek, Plat 1; and

WHEREAS, the City for reasons of health, safety, public welfare, and future adequate service to areas other than Spring Creek, Plat 1, requires that a 12inch water main be installed; and

WHEREAS, plans and specifications for such installation have been prepared by the Director of the Water and Light Department.

SECTION 1.  The Council deems the construction of about 2,385 feet of 12-inch water main pipes and accessory valves and fittings serving Spring Creek, Plat 1, necessary to assure adequate future water supply for the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City.

SECTION 2.  The nature and scope of the improvement shall consist of furnishing all labor, materials, transportation, insurance and all other items necessary for the complete construction of the water main described in Section 1.

SECTION 3.  The estimated differential cost for a 12-inch water main (the cost of constructing a 12-inch water main which exceeds the cost for constructing an 8-inch water main) for this improvement is $ 9.92 per linear foot; and the estimated differential cost of solid rock excavation, if necessary, above that required to install an 8inch water main, is $ 2.00 per linear foot.

SECTION 4.  This improvement shall be made by Wynfield Development Corporation.

SECTION 5.  This resolution shall be published in a daily newspaper of general circulation in the City of Columbia for seven (7) consecutive insertions, and a public hearing in respect to this improvement will be held in the Council Chamber of the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E. Broadway, Columbia, Missouri, at 7:00 p.m., on September 18, 2000.

ADOPTED this 5th day of September, 2000.
