Section 101-477 Res. 182-00; Authorizing Application to the MO Department of Transportation for Surface Transportation Enhancement Funds under the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century

A RESOLUTION

authorizing the City Manager to apply to the Missouri Department of Transportation for Surface Transportation Enhancement funds under the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.  The City Manager is authorized to apply to the Missouri Department of Transportation for Surface Transportation Enhancement funds under the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century, for the following projects during FY 2000:

    1.    MKT Trail Underpass Project at Stewart and Providence.  This project will involve the construction of a new section of the MKT Trail from Elm Street south to the existing trail southwest of the Stewart Road and Providence Road (MO 163) intersection.  It will include an underpass at the intersection which will use the existing box culverts under both Providence Road and Stewart Road.

2.    Wabash Station Project.  This project will include the historic preservation and refurbishment of the station, along with the installation of landscaping and bicycle racks.  And it will include the renovation of the lot, including the construction of a platform with a canopy to accommodate transit users, as well as other construction such as sidewalks, storm drainage, lighting and paving.

    SECTION 2.  Item 1 of Section 1 is the City’s top priority.
