AN ORDINANCE

amending Chapter 27 of the City Code relating to water services size and installation fees; and fixing the time when this ordinance shall become effective.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.  Chapter 27 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Columbia, Missouri, is hereby amended as follows:

Sec. 27-52. Water service linesOwnership; application; fees.

    (1)    Connection fee (applies to all customer connections):

    (2)    Meter box and appurtenances fee. On properties (generally industrial, commercial, or multiple-family residential in use) served by private water mains and/or private water service lines, where one or more water meter is required and the meter box(es) and appurtenances are to be installed by a plumbing, mechanical, or general contractor, the meter box(es) and appurtenances shall be furnished by the department and the customer shall be assessed per meter as follows:

    (3)    Meter fee. In addition to the connection fee, each customer who requests service to previously unserved properties, or to properties where a meter of greater size than the previous meter is required, shall be assessed a meter fee as follows:

        For commercial customers, when a remote-read meter is required, the meter fee shall be the actual cost of the meter, plus a markup to cover the actual cost of overhead as determined from cost computed at the end of each fiscal year.

    SECTION 2.  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after October 1, 2000.
