Section 101-501 Ord. 16609; Authorizing Payment of Differential Costs for a 12-inch Water Main Serving Spring Creek, Plat 1

AN ORDINANCE

determining that it is in the public interest to construct a 12-inch water main serving Spring Creek, Plat 1; approving and adopting plans and specifications; determining that the work shall be done by Wynfield Development Corporation; providing for payment of the extra cost for constructing a 12-inch water main rather than an 8-inch water main; appropriating funds; and fixing the time when this ordinance shall become effective.

    WHEREAS, the City Council adopted a resolution on September 5, 2000, declaring the necessity of constructing a 12-inch water main serving Spring Creek, Plat 1 and setting a public hearing on this project; and

    WHEREAS, the resolution was published in a daily newspaper of general circulation in the city; and

    WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing on construction of the water main.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.  The Council finds that the construction of about 2,385 feet of 12inch water main pipes and accessory valves and fittings serving Spring Creek, Plat 1 is necessary for the welfare and improvement of the City and that it is in the public interest that such improvement be made.

    SECTION 2.  The plans and specifications for this improvement, as prepared by the Director of the Water and Light Department and filed in the office of the City Clerk, are hereby approved and made a part of this ordinance by reference.

    SECTION 3.  The construction of the improvement shall be done by Wynfield Development Corporation.

    SECTION 4.  The Director of Finance is authorized to pay Wynfield Development Corporation $ 23,659.20 for installing a 12-inch water main serving Spring Creek, Plat 1.  This amount is the differential cost of installing a 12-inch water main above the cost of installing an 8-inch water main.

    SECTION 5.  The sum of $ 23,659.20 is hereby appropriated from the Fund Balance Account No. 550-0000-351.01-00 to the Capital/Transmission and Distribution Mains Account No. 550-7220-881.68-60, Project #WT0010, Work Request #WF0216283/5.

    SECTION 6.  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
