Section 101-559 Res. 200-00; Setting a Public Hearing RE: Construction of a 12-inch Water Main Serving Stonecrest, Plat 1
Council Bill No.
declaring the necessity for the construction of a 12-inch water main serving Stonecrest,
stating the nature of the improvement; estimating the extra cost for constructing a 12-inch water
main rather than an 8-inch water main; providing that the improvement shall be made by Fred
and Cheryl Overton; and setting a public hearing.
WHEREAS, Fred and Cheryl Overton desires to install an 8-inch
water main to serve
Stonecrest, Plat 1; and
WHEREAS, the City for reasons of health, safety, public welfare,
and future adequate service
to areas other than Stonecrest, Plat 1, requires that a 12inch water main be installed; and
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for such installation have
been prepared by the Director
of the Water and Light Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Council deems the construction of about
2,250 feet of 12-inch water main
pipes and accessory valves and fittings running along a portion of Limestone Avenue, Shale
Oaks Avenue and Gillespie Bridge Road serving Stonecrest, Plat 1, necessary to assure adequate
future water supply for the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City.
SECTION 2. The nature and scope of the improvement shall
consist of furnishing all labor,
materials, transportation, insurance and all other items necessary for the complete construction of
the water main described in Section 1.
SECTION 3. The estimated differential cost for a 12-inch
water main (the cost of constructing
a 12-inch water main which exceeds the cost for constructing an 8-inch water main) for this
improvement is $ 11.08 per linear foot; and the estimated differential cost of solid rock
excavation, if necessary, above that required to install an 8inch water main, is $ 2.00 per linear

the City of Columbia for seven (7) consecutive insertions, and a public hearing in respect to this
improvement will be held in the Council Chamber of the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E.
Broadway, Columbia, Missouri, at 7:00 p.m., on November 6, 2000.
