Section 101-605 Ord. 16668; Levying Special Assessments for Abatement of Weed Nuisances

AN ORDINANCE

levying and assessing special taxes for abatement of nuisances; ordering preparation of tax bills; and fixing the time when this ordinance shall become effective.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.  The Council finds that weed nuisances were maintained unlawfully and contrary to the provisions of Section 11224 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Columbia, Missouri, on the following described premises:

LOT FIVE (5) OF A SURVEY RECORDED IN BOOK 341, PAGE 224 OF THE RECORDS OF BOONE COUNTY, MISSOURI, BEING PARTS OF TRACTS 3 & 4 OF SURVEY 297, PAGE 187 OF THE NORTHEAST QUARTER (NE 1/4) OF SECTION FOUR (4), TOWNSHIP FORTY-EIGHT NORTH (48N), RANGE TWELVE WEST (12W) IN BOONE COUNTY, MISSOURI.

The Council finds that the Health Officer charged with the duty of abatement of nuisances under the provisions of Chapter 11 of the Code of Ordinances has abated the nuisances and that the cost of abating the nuisances was $ 250.00.  There is hereby levied and assessed a special tax against the property described above in the amount of $ 250.00.

    SECTION 2.  The Council finds that weed nuisances were maintained unlawfully and contrary to the provisions of Section 11224 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Columbia, Missouri, on the following described premises:
        
LOT TWENTY-ONE (21) IN MIKEL’S SUBDIVISION OF LOTS EIGHTY-THREE (83), EIGHTY-FOUR (84), EIGHTY-FIVE (85), EIGHTY-EIGHT (88), AND THE WEST HALF (W ½) OF LOTS EIGHTY-SIX (86) AND EIGHTY-SEVEN (87) OF GARTH’S ADDITION TO THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, BOONE COUNTY, MISSOURI.

The Council finds that the Health Officer charged with the duty of abatement of nuisances under the provisions of Chapter 11 of the Code of Ordinances has abated the nuisances and that the cost of abating the nuisance was $ 190.00.  There is hereby levied and assessed a special tax against the property described above in the amount of $ 190.00.

    SECTION 3.  The Council finds that weed nuisances were maintained unlawfully and contrary to the provisions of Section 11224 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Columbia, Missouri, on the following described premises:

LOT ELEVEN (11) OF VALLEY VIEW PLACE SUBDIVISION AS SHOWN BY THE PLAT RECORDED IN PLAT BOOK 21, PAGE 59, RECORDS OF BOONE COUNTY, MISSOURI.

The Council finds that the Health Officer charged with the duty of abatement of nuisances under the provisions of Chapter 11 of the Code of Ordinances has abated the nuisances and that the cost of abating the nuisance was $ 175.00.  There is hereby levied and assessed a special tax against the property described above in the amount of $ 175.00.

    SECTION 4.  The Council finds that weed nuisances were maintained unlawfully and contrary to the provisions of Section 11224 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Columbia, Missouri, on the following described premises:

LOT TWO (2) MOON VALLEY HEIGHTS ADDITION NUMBER 7 AS SHOWN ON THE PLAT RECORDED IN PLAT BOOK 13 PAGE 73 OF THE BOONE COUNTY RECORDS.

The Council finds that the Health Officer charged with the duty of abatement of nuisances under the provisions of Chapter 11 of the Code of Ordinances has abated the nuisances and that the cost of abating the nuisance was $ 200.00.  There is hereby levied and assessed a special tax against the property described above in the amount of $ 200.00.

    SECTION 5.  The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to issue special tax bills against the property described above in the amounts set forth above.  The tax bills shall be signed by the City Clerk under the corporate seal of the City.  The City Clerk shall register the tax bills in the office of the Director of Finance.  The special tax bills shall mature and shall be due and payable sixty days after the date of issue.  After the expiration of sixty days, the tax bills shall bear interest at the rate of nine per cent per annum on the unpaid balance until paid.

    SECTION 6.  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
