Section 102-021 Ord. 16740; Assessing a Special Tax for Abatement of a Weed Nuisance on Property Located at 1905 Newton Drive

AN ORDINANCE

levying and assessing a special tax for abatement of a weed nuisance on property located at 1905 Newton Drive; ordering preparation of a tax bill; and fixing the time when this ordinance shall become effective.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.  The Council finds that a weed nuisance was maintained unlawfully and contrary to the provisions of Sections 11223 and 11224 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Columbia, Missouri, on the following described premises:

Lot Two (2) of PARKADE MEADOWS SUBDIVISION as shown by Plat recorded in Plat Book 11, Page 168, Records of Boone County, Missouri.

    SECTION 2.  The Council finds that the Health Officer charged with the duty of abatement of nuisances under the provisions of Chapter 11 of the Code of Ordinances has abated the nuisance by use of city employees and that the cost of abating the nuisance was $ 170.00.

    SECTION 3.  There is hereby levied and assessed, a special tax against the property described in Section 1 in the amount of $ 170.00.

    SECTION 4.  The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to issue a special tax bill against the property described above for the amount set forth above.  The tax bill shall be signed by the City Clerk under the corporate seal of the City.  The City Clerk shall register the tax bill in the office of the Director of Finance.  The special tax bill shall mature and shall be due and payable sixty days after the date of issue.  After the expiration of sixty days, the tax bill shall bear interest at the rate of nine per cent per annum on the unpaid balance until paid.

    SECTION 5.  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
