Section 103-123 Ord. 17199; Authorizing Construction of Water Mains Located in and Serving Vanderveen Crossing, Plat 7; Payment of Differential Costs for 8-inch and 12-inch Water Mains Rather then 6-inch Water Mains

AN ORDINANCE

determining that it is in the public interest to construct water mains located in and serving Vanderveen Crossing, Plat 7; approving and adopting plans and specifications; determining that the work shall be done by Stephen Herigon Construction, Inc.; providing for payment of the extra cost for constructing an 8-inch and a 12-inch water main rather than 6-inch water mains; and fixing the time when this ordinance shall become effective.

    WHEREAS, the City Council adopted a resolution on February 18, 2002, declaring the necessity of constructing an 8-inch and 12-inch water main located in and serving Vanderveen Crossing, Plat 7 and setting a public hearing on this project; and

    WHEREAS, the resolution was published in a daily newspaper of general circulation in the city; and

    WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing on construction of the water main.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.  The Council finds that the construction of about 1,215 feet of 8inch and 315 feet of 12-inch water main pipes and accessory valves and fittings located in and serving Vanderveen Crossing, Plat 7 is necessary for the welfare and improvement of the City and that it is in the public interest that such improvement be made.

    SECTION 2.  The plans and specifications for this improvement, as prepared by the Director of the Water and Light Department and filed in the office of the City Clerk, are hereby approved and made a part of this ordinance by reference.

    SECTION 3.  The construction of the improvement shall be done by Stephen Herigon Construction, Inc.

    SECTION 4.  The Director of Finance is authorized to pay Stephen Herigon Construction, Inc. $ 10,739.25 for installing an 8-inch and a 12-inch water main serving Vanderveen Crossing, Plat 7.  This amount is the differential cost of installing an 8-inch and a 12-inch water main above the cost of installing 6-inch water mains.

    SECTION 5.  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
