AN ORDINANCE
amending Chapter 14 of the City Code to change the speed limit in signed school speed
limit
zones with flashing yellow lights; and fixing the time when this ordinance shall become
effective.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 14 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Columbia, Missouri, is
hereby amended as follows:

Sec. 14-223. Speed restrictions on city streets.
(a) No person shall drive a vehicle on any street at a greater
speed than is reasonable and
approved under conditions then and there existing.
(b) No person shall, where no special hazard exists, drive a
vehicle at a speed in excess of the
following:

Twenty miles per hour:
a. In the central
business district and on Ninth Street from Elm Street to Conley Avenue.
b. In
all signed school speed limit zones without flashing yellow lights
between the hours
of 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on school days.
c. In the University
of Missouri Campus, as defined in section 14-1, and on Rollins from
College Avenue, east to its terminus.
d. On William
Street from Broadway to Rollins Street.
e. On Ann Street
from Broadway to Anthony Street.
f. On Anthony
Street from William Street to Ann Street.
g. On Walnut
Street from College Avenue to Melbourne Street.
h. In signed school speed limit zones with flashing yellow lights, when the
yellow lights
are flashing.

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage.
