Section 103-251; Ord. 17286; Authorizing Payment of Differential Cost RE: Construction of an 8-inch Water Main Serving West Lawn, Plat 1

determining that it is in the public interest to construct an 8inch water main serving
Plat 1; approving and adopting plans and specifications; determining that the work shall be done
by F. Garland, Jr. and Peggy Lee C. Russell; providing for payment of the extra cost for
constructing an 8-inch rather than a 6-inch water main; and fixing the time when this ordinance
shall become effective.
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted a resolution on April 15,
2002, declaring the necessity
of constructing an 8-inch water main serving West Lawn, Plat 1; and
WHEREAS, the resolution was published in a daily newspaper of
general circulation in the
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing on construction
of the water main.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Council finds that the construction of
approximately 2,100 feet of 8inch
water main pipes, accessory valves and fittings and fire hydrants and appurtenances running
along Hartfield Drive, Rothwell Drive and Leland Ridge Road is necessary for the welfare and
improvement of the City and that it is in the public interest that such improvement be made.
SECTION 2. The plans and specifications for this improvement,
as prepared by the Director
of the Water and Light Department and filed in the office of the City Clerk, are hereby approved
and made a part of this ordinance by reference.
SECTION 3. The construction of the improvement shall be
done by F. Garland, Jr. and Peggy
Lee C. Russell.
SECTION 4. The Director of Finance is authorized to pay
F. Garland, Jr. and Peggy Lee C.
Russell $ 8,526.00 for installing 2,100 feet of 8-inch water main serving West Lawn, Plat 1. This
amount is the differential cost of installing an 8-inch water main above the cost of installing a 6-inch
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage.
