Section 103-309; Res. 106-02; Authorizing Temporary Closure of Portions of Fifth Street, Conley Avenue, Turner Avenue and Maryland Avenue

A RESOLUTION

authorizing the temporary closure of portions of Fifth Street, Conley Avenue, Turner Avenue and Maryland Avenue.

    WHEREAS, the Curators of the University of Missouri have requested permission of the City to temporarily close portions of Fifth Street between Stewart Road and Rollins Road, Conley Avenue between Fifth Street and Sixth Street, and Turner Avenue from Fifth Street to the intersection of Maryland Avenue to allow for the construction of underground utilities to serve Lewis and Clark Hall.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.  The City Council hereby authorizes the Curators of the University of Missouri (the “University”) to temporarily close portions of Fifth Street between Stewart Road and Rollins Road, Conley Avenue between Fifth Street and Sixth Street, and Turner Avenue from Fifth Street to the intersection of Maryland Avenue at the times and locations shown on “Exhibit A.”

    SECTION 2.  The University shall close streets only in accordance with the traffic control plan submitted and approved by the City’s Director of Public Works.  The University shall be responsible for all signs and barricades necessary for the protection and convenience of the general public.  The University shall give notice of the street closing to the news media, emergency services and property owners along Fifth Street, Conley Avenue and Turner Avenue.
