Section 103-418; Res. 138-02; Setting a Public Hearing RE: Construction of Water Mains Located in and Serving Stonecrest, Plat 4
Council Bill No. R 138-02
declaring the necessity for the construction of water mains located in and serving Stonecrest, Plat
4; stating the nature of the improvement; estimating the extra cost for constructing 8-inch and 12-inch
water mains rather than 6-inch and 8-inch water mains; providing that the improvement
shall be made by Fred W. and Cheryl Overton; and setting a public hearing.
WHEREAS, Fred W. and Cheryl Overton desires to install a 6-inch and an 8-inch
to serve property abutting the proposed water main extension; and
WHEREAS, the City for reasons of health, safety, public welfare, and future
to areas other than Stonecrest, Plat 4, requires that an 8inch and a 12-inch water main be
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for such installation have been prepared by
of the Water and Light Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Council deems the construction of about 165 feet of 8inch and
720 feet of
12-inch water main pipes and accessory valves and fittings located in and serving Stonecrest, Plat
4, necessary to assure adequate future water supply for the health, safety and welfare of the
citizens of the City.
SECTION 2. The nature and scope of the improvement shall consist of furnishing
materials, transportation, insurance and all other items necessary for the complete construction of
the water main described in Section 1.
SECTION 3. The estimated differential cost for an 8-inch water main (the
cost of constructing
an 8-inch water main which exceeds the cost for constructing a 6-inch water main) for this
improvement is $ 6.50 per linear foot. The estimated differential cost for a 12-inch water main
(the cost of constructing a 12-inch water main which exceeds the cost of constructing an 8-inch
water main) for this improvement is $ 11.11 per linear foot; and the cost of solid rock excavation,
if necessary above that required to install an 8-inch water main, is $2.00 per linear foot.
SECTION 4. This improvement shall be made by Fred W. and Cheryl Overton.
SECTION 5. This resolution shall be published in a daily newspaper of
general circulation in
the City of Columbia for seven (7) consecutive insertions, and a public hearing in respect to this
improvement will be held in the Council Chamber of the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E.
Broadway, Columbia, Missouri, at 7:00 p.m., on August 19, 2002.
