AN ORDINANCE
determining that it is in the public interest to construct water mains located in and
serving
Stonecrest, Plat 4; approving and adopting plans and specifications; determining that the work
shall be done by Fred W. and Cheryl Overton; providing for payment of the extra cost for
constructing 8-inch and 12-inch water mains rather than 6-inch and 8-inch water mains; and
fixing the time when this ordinance shall become effective.
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted a resolution on August 5,
2002, declaring the necessity
of constructing an 8-inch and 12-inch water main located in and serving Stonecrest, Plat 4 and
setting a public hearing on this project; and
WHEREAS, the resolution was published in a daily newspaper of
general circulation in the
city; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing on construction
of the water main.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Council finds that the construction of
about 165 feet of 8inch and 720 feet
of 12-inch water main pipes and accessory valves and fittings located in and serving Stonecrest,
Plat 4 is necessary for the welfare and improvement of the City and that it is in the public interest
that such improvement be made.
SECTION 2. The plans and specifications for this improvement,
as prepared by the Director
of the Water and Light Department and filed in the office of the City Clerk, are hereby approved
and made a part of this ordinance by reference.
SECTION 3. The construction of the improvement shall be
done by Fred W. and Cheryl
Overton.
SECTION 4. The Director of Finance is authorized to pay
Fred W. and Cheryl Overton $
9,071.70 for installing an 8-inch and a 12-inch water main serving Stonecrest, Plat 4. This
amount is the differential cost of installing an 8-inch and a 12-inch water main above the cost of
installing a 6-inch and 8-inch water main.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage.
