Section 103-532; Res. 184-02; Setting a Public Hearing RE: Construction of a Water Main serving Springdale Estates, Plat 7
Council Bill No. R 184-02
A RESOLUTION
declaring the necessity for the construction of a water main serving Springdale Estates, Plat 7;
stating the nature of the improvement; estimating the extra cost for constructing an 8-inch rather
than a 6-inch water main; providing that the improvement shall be made by G & W Enterprises,
LLC.; providing that payment for the extra cost of constructing a larger water main shall be from
water utility funds; and setting a public hearing.
WHEREAS, G & W Enterprises, LLC. desires to install a 6inch water main to
serve property
abutting the proposed water main extension; and
WHEREAS, the City for reasons of health, safety, public welfare, and future
adequate service
to areas other than Springdale Estates, Plat 7, requires that an 8inch water main be installed; and
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for such installation have been prepared by
the Director
of the Water and Light Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Council deems the construction of about 560 feet of 8inch
water main pipes
and accessory valves and fittings serving Springdale Estates, Plat 7 necessary to assure adequate
future water supply for the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City.
SECTION 2. The nature and scope of the improvement shall consist of furnishing
all labor,
materials, transportation, insurance and all other items necessary for the complete construction of
the water main described in Section 1.
SECTION 3. The estimated differential cost (the cost of constructing an
8-inch water main
which exceeds the cost of constructing a 6-inch water main) of this improvement is $ 4.93 per
linear foot.
SECTION 4. This improvement shall be made by G & W Enterprises, LLC.
SECTION 5. Payment of differential costs, not to exceed the estimated
amounts stated in
Section 3, shall be made to G & W Enterprises, LLC. from the Capital/Transmission and
Distribution Mains Account upon satisfactory completion of the work and acceptance of the
Engineer's Report by the City Council.
SECTION 6. This resolution shall be published in a daily newspaper of
general circulation in
the City of Columbia for seven (7) consecutive insertions, and a public hearing in respect to this
improvement will be held in the Council Chamber of the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E.
Broadway, Columbia, Missouri, at 7:00 p.m., on October 21, 2002.
