Council Bill No.          R 3-03

A RESOLUTION

declaring the necessity for the construction of water main along Business Loop 70; stating the nature of the improvement; estimating the extra cost for constructing a 12-inch water main rather than an 8-inch water main; providing that the improvement shall be made by SBH Properties, LLC; and setting a public hearing.

WHEREAS, SBH Properties, LLC desires to install an 8-inch water main to serve Head Motor Company property on Business Loop 70; and

WHEREAS, the City for reasons of health, safety, public welfare, and future adequate service to other areas, requires that a 12-inch water main be installed; and

WHEREAS, plans and specifications for such installation have been prepared by the Director of the Water and Light Department.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1.  The Council deems the construction of about 840 feet of 12-inch water main pipes and accessory valves and fittings along Business Loop 70 necessary to assure adequate future water supply for the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City.

SECTION 2.  The nature and scope of the improvement shall consist of furnishing all labor, materials, transportation, insurance and all other items necessary for the complete construction of the water main described in Section 1.

SECTION 3.  The estimated differential cost for a 12-inch water main (the cost of constructing a 12-inch water main which exceeds the cost of constructing an 8-inch water main) for this improvement is $ 12.46 per linear foot; and the estimated differential cost of solid rock excavation, if necessary, is $2.00 per linear foot.

SECTION 4.  This improvement shall be made by SBH Properties, LLC.

SECTION 5.  This resolution shall be published in a daily newspaper of general circulation in the City of Columbia for seven (7) consecutive insertions, and a public hearing in respect to this improvement will be held in the Council Chamber of the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E.     ADOPTED this 6th day of January, 2003.
