Section 104-025 Res. 12-03; Adopting a List of High Priority Transportation Improvement Projects; Requesting Federal Assistance in Funding These Projects

A RESOLUTION

adopting a list of high priority transportation improvement projects; and requesting federal assistance in funding these projects.

    WHEREAS, Congress is preparing a new federal transportation bill which will authorize funds for federal-aid highways, highway safety programs, transit programs and other purposes; and

    WHEREAS, the City of Columbia, the County of Boone and the Columbia Chamber of Commerce are in agreement on the three highest priority transportation improvements needed in the Columbia/Boone County area; and

    WHEREAS, the City wishes to communicate its needs and priorities to Senator Christopher Bond and other members of the Missouri Congressional Delegation.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.  The City Council of the City of Columbia, Missouri adopts the following list of high priority transportation improvement projects:

    1.    US 63/I-70 Interchange
                $58-60 Million

    2.    MO 740 Stadium Extension to I-70
                $29-35 Million
    
    3.    MO 763 Widening
                $23-25 Million

    SECTION 2.  The City Council requests the assistance of the federal government in funding the high priority projects listed in section 1.  The City Manager is authorized and directed to communicate this request for assistance to Senator Christopher Bond and other members of the Missouri Congressional Delegation.
