Section 104-040; Ord. 17566; Authorizing Construction of Water Mains Serving B & B Crossings

AN ORDINANCE

declaring it is in the public interest to proceed with construction of water mains serving B & B Crossings; approving the plans and specifications; determining that a portion of the work shall be done by City employees and a part by construction crews provided under the terms of a general services agreement; providing for payment for the improvement; appropriating funds; and fixing the time when this ordinance shall become effective.

    WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a resolution declaring the necessity for construction of water mains serving B & B Crossings and setting a public hearing on this project; and

    WHEREAS, the resolution has been published in a daily newspaper of general circulation in the City of Columbia; and

    WHEREAS, the public hearing on the project has been held.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.  The Council finds and determines that construction of about 885 feet of 8inch water main and 1,040 feet of 12-inch water main serving B & B Crossings is necessary for the welfare and improvement of the City and that it is in the public interest that such improvement be made.

    SECTION 2.  The plans and specifications for this improvement, as prepared by the Director of the Water and Light Department and filed in the office of the City Clerk, are hereby approved, adopted and made a part of this ordinance.

    SECTION 3.  As deemed advisable by the city manager pursuant to Section 70 of the City Charter, city employees shall be used for construction of a portion of the work.  A portion of the work shall be done by construction crews provided under the terms of a general services agreement.

    SECTION 4.  Payment for this improvement shall be made from the Water and Electric Fund using funds appropriated in Capital Improvement Project No. FED389, and such other funds as may be lawfully appropriated.

    SECTION 5.  The sum of $ 93,997.75 is hereby appropriated from the Retained Earning Account No. 551-0000-351.01-00 to the Building and Structures/Land Account No. 551-7110-880.60-65 FED389.

    SECTION 6.  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
