AN ORDINANCE

determining that it is in the public interest to proceed with improvements at Rock Quarry Park, MKT and Indian Hills Park trails, Park Management Center and Cosmo Park; approving and adopting plans and specifications; determining that the work shall be done by City employees; providing for payment for the improvements;  and fixing the time when this ordinance shall become effective.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.  The Council finds that the construction of improvements  at Rock Quarry Park, MKT and Indian Hills Park trails, Park Management Center and Cosmo Park, including (1) Replacing carpet with wood flooring at the Rock Quarry Park home at an estimated cost of $5,400; (2) Trail improvement projects at Indian Hills Park and MKT-Forum access at an estimated cost of $4,000; (3) Park Management Center improvements including a protective canopy for the fuel tanks and a new loading dock at an estimated cost of $4,500; and (4) Cosmo Park Lamb Shelter restroom fixture replacement at an estimated cost of $6,000, is necessary for the welfare and improvement of the City and that it is in the public interest such improvements be made.

    SECTION 2.  The plans and specifications for the improvements as prepared by the Department of Parks and Recreation and filed in the office of the City Clerk, are hereby approved, adopted and made a part hereof by reference as fully as if set forth herein verbatim.

    SECTION 4.  As deemed advisable by the City Manager, City employees shall be used to construct the improvements.

    SECTION 5.  Payment for the improvements shall be made from the Annual Park Improvement Fund, and such other funds as may be lawfully appropriated.

    SECTION 6.  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
