A RESOLUTION

establishing a nuisance party and property task force.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.  The City Council hereby establishes a nuisance party and property task force consisting of approximately nine (9) members to be appointed by the Mayor after consulting with City Council members.  The Mayor should attempt to appoint a balanced group with members representing a variety of viewpoints.  The Mayor shall designate a chair of the task force.

    SECTION 2.  The task force shall review the problem of loud parties that disrupt the peace and quiet of neighboring residents and that frequently involve other violations of City ordinances.  The task force shall submit its recommendations to the Council on how the City should address this problem. The task force should review the nuisance party ordinance drafted by the Law Department and advise the Council on whether this ordinance or a modified version of it should be passed by the City Council.

    SECTION 3.  The task force shall also review the chronic nuisance property ordinance submitted to the City by the Smithton Valley Neighborhood Association and the North Central Neighborhood Association and the chronic nuisance property ordinance drafted by the Law Department.  The task force shall advise the Council on whether a chronic nuisance property ordinance should be passed by the City Council and, if so, advise the Council on the content of such an ordinance.

    SECTION 4.  The City Manager shall provide the task force with necessary staff support.
