AN ORDINANCE

determining that it is in the public interest to construct 8-inch and 12-inch water mains serving Hunter’s Gate, Plat 3A; approving and adopting plans and specifications; determining that the work shall be done by Stephen Herigon Construction, Inc.; providing for payment of the extra cost for constructing 8-inch and 12-inch water mains rather than 6-inch water mains; and fixing the time when this ordinance shall become effective.

    WHEREAS, the City Council adopted a resolution on October 4, 2004, declaring the necessity of constructing 8-inch and 12-inch water mains serving Hunter’s Gate, Plat 3A; and

    WHEREAS, the resolution was published in a daily newspaper of general circulation in the city; and

    WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing on construction of the water main.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.  The Council finds that the construction of 8-inch and 12-inch water mains serving Hunter’s Gate, Plat 3A is necessary for the welfare and improvement of the City and that it is in the public interest that such improvement be made.

    SECTION 2.  The plans and specifications for this improvement, as prepared by the Director of the Water and Light Department and filed in the office of the City Clerk, are hereby approved and made a part of this ordinance by reference.

    SECTION 3.  The construction of the improvement shall be done by Stephen Herigon Construction, Inc.

    SECTION 4.  The Director of Finance is authorized to pay Stephen Herigon Construction, Inc. $ 20,357.55 for installing 8-inch and 12-inch water mains in Hunter’s Gate, Plat 3A.  This amount is the extra cost of installing 8-inch and 12-inch water mains rather than 6-inch water mains.

    SECTION 5.  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
