extending the term of the cable television franchise held by MCC Missouri, LLC (Mediacom); and fixing the time when this ordinance shall become effective.

    WHEREAS, the cable television franchise of MCC Missouri, LLC (Mediacom) expires on January 19, 2006; and

    WHEREAS, the City and Mediacom are engaged in the franchise renewal process but will not complete that process before Mediacom’s cable television franchise expires; and

    WHEREAS, City and Mediacom agree that the franchise shall be extended to permit the franchise renewal process to be completed in a manner consistent with  Federal law.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.    The term of the cable television franchise held by Mediacom is extended to January 17, 2007 or until a new franchise agreement is entered into between the City and Mediacom, whichever occurs first.

    SECTION 2.    This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
