     AN ORDINANCE

determining that it is in the public interest to proceed with the design of a renewable fuels facility at the sanitary landfill; requesting proposals through the Purchasing Division; authorizing a contract for the design phase of the project; and fixing the time when this ordinance shall become effective.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.    The Council finds that the design, construction and operation of a renewable fuels facility at the sanitary landfill, for the purpose of generating power from landfill gas, is necessary for the welfare and improvement of the City and that it is in the public interest such improvement be made.

    SECTION 2.    The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to request proposals and contract for the design phase of the project.

    SECTION 3.    This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
