     A POLICY RESOLUTION

expressing the City Council’ s preference relating to the height of light poles in nonresidential planned districts.

    WHEREAS, City staff and the Planning and Zoning Commission are considering an ordinance that will establish outdoor lighting standards; and

    WHEREAS, the City Council has been imposing limitations on the height of light poles in nonresidential planned districts; and

    WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to put developers on notice that, until the Council enacts an ordinance regulating outdoor lighting, it intends to limit the height of light poles in nonresidential planned districts to a maximum of twenty-five (25) feet.

    NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.    The City Council hereby expresses its preference that the maximum height of light poles in Districts C-P, O-P, M-R and M-P not exceed twenty-five (25) feet from the ground location of the pole.

    SECTION 2.    This policy resolution shall remain in effect only until the City Council passes an ordinance regulating outdoor lighting.
